Jonathan Jumped 31 Other Generals To Pick Minimah As Chief of Army Staff

To appoint Maj-Gen. Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah as chief of army staff, President Goodluck Jonathan had to skip 31 generals who are his seniors in the Nigerian Army, LEADERSHIP Weekend has learnt. Of these generals, 15 would be retired soon while 16 may be left to work with the new army boss, it was further learnt.
Since the sack of the service chiefs and the immediate appointment of the new ones by President Jonathan during the week, there has been panic in the country’s barracks, as the superiors of the new service chiefs fear that the retirement to be engendered by the development could affect them. Those who have cases against the new service chiefs are hoping to get redress at the National Assembly when they would be screened.
