Man jailed for insulting Gombe governor on Facebook



An 18-year-old, Umar Abdullahi, has been put in prison for allegedly insulting Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo on Facebook.
The Pantami Magistrates’ Court in Gombe State on Wednesday remanded Abdullahi after he pleaded guilty to the charge before the court.
Speaking to at a resumed hearing, the prosecutor, Sardauna Wukuma told the court that the police were still investigating the matter.

The prosecutor, Sardauna Wukuma, told the court at a resumed hearing that the police were still investigating the matter.
Wukuma applied for adjournment to enable the police to complete investigations on the matter.
He explained that the offence was contrary to the Penal Code Law of Gombe State.
The Magistrate, Alhaji Bello Sheriff, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Gombe prisons and adjourned the case till Dec. 12 for sentencing.
The accused was arraigned before the court on November 17 for allegedly using abusive words against the governor on Facebook.
